AWIPS Build OB2 D2D software release notes

• RedHat 7.2 is the current Linux version in use.
• Data files produced by localization now can be read by either HP or Linux boxes. The significance of this is that localizations can be run on the faster Linux boxes and files safely transferred to HPs.
• WWA templates now can include a "toggle" operator to specify the initial inclusion of a bullet in the text.

New features

• GOES high density winds are available on the Satellite menu. Plots are stratified by reference dataset (e.g., WV, vis, 7 micron sounder) and by level (200mb, 300mb, etc.).
• Radar items:
  • A new high-resolution mesocylone graphic is available, with updates after each tilt is processed. An accompanying text product is stored as WSRMRUxxx.

  • Data from the Eastern North Pacific Regional Wave Watch III model are now available.
  • The Global, Western North Atlantic, and Alaska wave model grids now extend to 168 hours.
• Radar items:
  • The high-res SRM introduced in OB1 is easier to use with a new GUI for selecting the storm motion vector. This GUI is added to the Radar Display Controls, formerly known as Icon Graphics Controls.
• Radar archive:
  • This application is removed in OB2. Its function is now handled by the WES.
• WarnGen items:
  • The format of products from WarnGen is now checked for proper UGC and VTEC codes; UGC line matching text counties, zones, etc.; internally consistent times; product type matching the Mass News Disseminator (MND) section and text in the first bullet; correct contents and format of the MND and the first three bullets; and $$ at the end of the product.
  • Support for follow-up statements (county SVS, FFS, MWS) is provided. When selected, the user may choose a current warning by clicking button 3 on the display or from a list, and D2D will display the original box, an estimate of the current centroid based on the pathcast, and the remaining portion of the track. After optionally modifying the location and track (the box is not editable), draft text is generated as usual. WarnGen also now includes a cancellation option.
  • It's now possible to issue a follow-up warning (SVR, TOR, FFW, or SMW), with WarnGen initialized based on a current or recent warning, but with storm location updated based on the track and current time.
  • The combined FFW/SVR product is now supported.

• Product Maker items:
• The color table menu is now stratified into cascading menus by type of image - e.g., Sat, Radar, Grid. You can use cascading menus in your personal color table space by using one or more colons in the name when you store your tables. For example, Radar:OSF:Echo Tops will go in an OSF menu cascading off of Radar from the main menu. Thanks to Paul Jendrowski of WFO RNK for developing this feature.
